In 1206 the bishopric of Assisi was the scene of a prophetic gesture that upset its time and continues to question our time. the young Francesco, in front of his father Pietro di Bernardone and bishop Guido, renounced all his earthly possessions, stripping himself to the point of nakedness, in order to be totally of God and of the poor.

The door of that bishopric, buried for centuries, has now been brought to light, in the complex which by now in memory of that event takes the name of Sanctuary of the Renunciation. from this a small meditation booklet emerged, which can help pilgrims and visitors to immerse themselves in the "grace" of this place.
